Both husky and portuguese water dog males are generally larger than females as adults. We have not noticed or received any feedback about temperaments and personalities differing or being gender specific. We recommend you neuter/spay your pet and that will neutalize some of the gender differences as well.

We feel that in order to maintain healthy dogs, the puppies and their mom need 4 weeks after the birth before they are prepared for visitors.

Yes, you will always be able to see the puppies' mom and dad. |
No, we do not sell our puppies on a spay/neuter contract. We do highly recommend spay/neuter because we feel it will make a better pet as well as save your pet from health issues down the road. We do sell our dogs on a Non-Breeding agreement with the CKC. If you want to breed please contact us before placing a deposit to discuss the possibilty of getting a puppy with full breeding rights.

They are exceptionally intelligent, and work as Therapy Dogs and Assistant Dogs. Since they're so intelligent they will need stimulation or they will get bored easy. The breed is a working dog breed so they are happiest when they have things to do.

Huskies are intelligent dogs and learn quickly. We've had buyers ask if we'd house-trained the puppies before they left the kennel because they were trained so easily. They are very picky dogs and like to keep themselves and their "den" clean. So that helps a lot with the training and housebreaking process. They can be stubborn as well but with time & consistency they are very receptive to training.

We have quite a variety of eye colours in our husky puppies. We have lots of blue eyed puppies as well as brown, amber & bi-eyed (one blue one brown). Occasionally we will have puppies with multiple colours in the same eye.
We can generally tell the eye colour when the puppies are 4 weeks old. It has happened that the colour has changed after 4 weeks but that's quite rare.

Huskies and Portuguese Water Dogs get along fine with whatever they grow up with. Many of our puppy buyers have cats as well, and the cat and dog turn out to be great friends.

Our huskies are both friendly and gentle, with outgoing personalities and eager, happy dispositions. They love people and love to be part of the action.
They are people-oriented and thrive on being part of a family. They are tireless with a great sense of humour. Though not agressive, they are alert and protective, making a good guard dog. They are originally from Portugal, where they were taught to herd fish into fishermen's nets, to retrieve lost tackle or broken nets, and to act as couriers from ship to ship, or ship to shore. Today they still LOVE water, and still have webbed feet. The Portuguese Water Dog is the only breed that can jump from the water into a boat without help!

Yes, they do shed. Twice a year they "blow" their coat and during this time the shedding is very intense. If the dog is brushed regularly, it minimizes the shedding and loose hair floating around the house. Some people have trained their dog to be ok with a vacuum cleaner attachment being used for grooming. This also helps minimze the affects of shedding.
No, their single-layered coats are non-shedding and can be either wavy or curly. This means that they are considered hypoallergenic. Since they are non-shedding they will need to be groomed. Their coat will continually grow and therefore need to be trimmed. Usually every 6 weeks or so is sufficient.

Yes, we can fly a puppy to an airport near you. Westjet cargo requires a puppy to be 8 weeks of age before flying and Air Canada's minimum age is 12 weeks. We will need to add the cost of an airline-approved kennel for the puppy, as well as delivery to our airport. We have puppies in every province in Canada as well as in a number of States. Thankfully we have never had an issue shipping puppies.

Yes, they are. Each of our adult dogs have their Canadian Kennel Club registration certificates. As soon as we have the new puppy owner's information each of the puppies are registered with the CKC. The CKC mails the certificate to us and we will mail it to the new owners. Usually it takes 6-8 weeks after the puppy has been picked up for the new owner to receive the certificate.

A $200.00 non-refundable deposit will reserve the next puppy born which meets your requirements. We give picks of the litters in the order we have received the deposits. When the puppies are ready for vistors around 5 weeks of age we contact the people on the list and get them out to choose their puppy. If there is not a puppy that meets your specs when it's yor turn to choose you may defer to the next available litter.
