They are people-oriented and thrive on being part of a family. They are tireless with a great sense of humour. Though not agressive, they are alert and protective, making a good guard dog. They are originally from Portugal, where they were taught to herd fish into fishermen's nets, to retrieve lost tackle or broken nets, and to act as couriers from ship to ship, or ship to shore. Today they still LOVE water, and still have webbed feet. The Portuguese Water Dog is the only breed that can jump from the water into a boat without help!
Yes, we can fly a puppy to an airport near you. The airlines require that the puppy be 8 weeks of age before flying. We will need to add the cost of an airline-approved kennel for the puppy, as well as delivery to our airport.
Yes, they are. Each of our adult dogs have their Canadian Kennel Club registration certificates. As soon as we have the new puppy owner's information each of the puppies are registered with the CKC as well.
